PURPOSE

The Applications Specialist is responsible for the design, development, implementation, administration, and support of critical business applications and activities across the business portfolios as part of our solutions delivery team. You’ll be required to be technologically competent and work with vendors and internal IT teams to deliver solutions that meet business needs.

Working with cross-functional teams, your responsibilities will include gathering requirements, documenting requirements for enhancements and projects, and analyzing systems, creating and reviewing functional specifications, creating and reviewing test cases, conducting testing, training, and deployment – in other words, supporting the full application management lifecycle.

You’ll be expected to keep up with the latest technology and be able to assist in the analysis and design of solutions to business problems. You’ll also be expected to help improve the maturity of internal processes such as service management, release management, end-user support, reporting, and so on.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic:

  • Examine the possibilities for technology standardization and modernization.
  • Examine ways to implement best practices in the areas of process reengineering, solution design, and development.
  • Other horizontal fields of architecture, data & analytics, digital, and so on require thought leadership.

Operational:

  • Business analysis to gather required system requirements
  • Translate business requirements into specifications that will be used to drive design and development of the required solution
  • Use techno-functional expertise to recommend most optimal solutions against business requirements
  • Proven track record in designing, developing and implementing solutions using widely available tools and techniques
  • Hands on expertise in application configurations, solution design, QA, and release management
  • Act as the Level 2 support for business users
  • Drive user adoption and have training plans in place
  • Create and manage delivery of initiatives end-to-end
  • Design and implement PoC’s to drive feasibility and assessments
  • Support the ITBP and applications team with program delivery and execution
  • Must be able to perform duties with moderate to low supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and assess and adjust quickly to changing priorities

People Management:

  • Provide technical assistance and cross training to other team members
  • Develop team in line with target competencies
  • Motivate team members to maintain excellence in service delivery and have opportunities for professional development
  • Requires leadership qualities to mentor junior members of the team
  • Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills are required to support working in project environments that includes internal, external and customer teams

Product/ Process Improvement:

  • Ensure proper configuration management and change controls are implemented for your sphere of influence
  • Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes
  • Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science
  • Techno-functional certifications desired
  • 6 to 8 years’ experience implementing at least 3 projects end-to-end
  • Working with users in a requirements analysis role
  • Basic levels of process mapping
  • Hand on experience of working with multiple data sources and APIs
  • Ability to design and configure solutions in line with business requirements and specifications
  • Adapt at working in an agile / hybrid delivery environment
  • Proficient in resource and effort estimations, scoping and analysis
  • Oversee entire process of configuring applications, from design to implementation, testing and delivery of products

Manager – Enterprise Excellence

PURPOSE

Deliver business value by doing an in-depth diagnostic study to identify challenges and pain spots, devising solutions to fulfill project goals, and implementing the transformation successfully and sustainably.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Strategic

  • Execute projects with quantified revenue impact as well as material operational improvements in line with the overall strategic initiatives of AGI

Operational

  • Run single project independently
  • Plan and deliver the project in order to deliver quality business solutions within agreed timescales and to the agreed AGI way framework.
  • Execute scope of the deployment assignment, particularly business analysis, diagnostic activities, design, pilot and implementation
  • Ensure clear handover at each stage and to the business at closure for sustainability and control.
  • Support and provide input into decision group meetings / steering committee meetings / workshops for OE team and/or with representatives from other relevant business areas.
  • Use specialist knowledge and/or experience of business areas or products to ensure all relevant information is available to guide design and implementation of deployments.

People Management

  • Establish clear objectives, roles and responsibilities of the program/project team members
  • Coach team members on AGI Way framework, lean and six sigma principles and ensure development
  • Manage teams performance goals and problem solve for improvements

Product / Process Improvement

  • Deliver cost savings targets in line with that of the project’s objectives
  • Deliver people, process efficiency across the BU roll out sites

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Science.
  • Masters an asset
  • PMP and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or equivalents).
  • Experience in Organizational Effectiveness, Lean, and Change Management.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing at least one transformational project within a Service Operations environment.
  • Results-driven achiever who can grasp and communicate complex ideas clearly.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • 3+ years hands-on experience in a Change Programs, Project Management, and Business Analysis
  • 3+ years of experience working on Ops Excellence/Lean/Six Sigma projects
