Group Director Canada Operations

The Group Director of Supply Chain Operations is responsible for the overall strategic, tactical and operational initiatives for all NAOU Canadian manufacturing (in house and co-packers)   Included is stewardship of Quality, and leadership of the total Country Health, Safety and Environment, for the Canadian Juice & Dairy operations as well as Product Commercialization, and Supply Planning. This role will also play the lead role in managing our PMO activities bringing together cross functional projects leading to business cost savings. This role will also be responsible for working delivering Customer Service metrics and build the relationship and partnership with the North Zone sales, franchise and marketing teams as well as the Bottler and other third party supply chain partners.

Reporting to the V.P. Supply Chain Operations, East Region is responsible for:

  • providing service excellence by developing & leveraging a Supply Chain that is flexible, scalable and responsive
  • delivering lowest possible supply chain cost
  • delivering the highest quality products in the best package to our customers, and building organizational capabilities in Supply Chain to drive successful delivery of the business plan
  • managing long term strategic relationships with our Co Packer network across Canada
  • leading the “Juice & Dairy” PMO, managing cross functional programs and PI
  • working closely with CCBSS on ensuring Canadian needs are met within new procurement contracts
  • directs the supply planning work for the Canadian operations

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain Strategic Planning

  • Translate Supply Chain business strategy into interim and long term financial and operational goals with visible metrics
  • Research and communicate our competition’s capabilities & advantages
  • Understand Supply Chain trends and new technology and how to apply to our business
  • Identify and source innovative packaging designs that fit marketing/sales criteria, setting the specifications with Technical, and managing their introduction
  • Identify PI/cost saving opportunities and manage their execution and completion
  • Provide long term capacity plans aligning to the future needs of the business
  • Manage the introduction of any new products as they relate to new packaging

Strategic Procurement

  • Responsible for long term contract relationships with Co packers
  • Responsible to ensure contract adherence, Quality, and supply within co packers
  • Establish guidelines for long term contracts, exclusivity decisions, & volume commitments
  • Review & analyze new opportunities
  • Track key contracts and their impact to the annual business plan
  • Develop and maintain a supplier performance program

Financial/Budget:

  • Accountable for P & L “Manufacturing”, Co-Man & Supply Planning
  • Accountable for Cost per case for total manufacturing

Product Commercialization:

  • Provide oversight for all Product Commercialization initiatives

Director, Finance Retail North Zone

Role Summary:

This role serves as the Finance Lead responsible for oversight of the retail customers within our North Operating Zone.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analysis of retail volume and pricing in support of delivering the Net Revenue, Gross Profit plan by customer/channel

  • Coordinate with the Center of Excellence Finance team to review, analyze and steward the impacts of revenue deductions/adjustments (e.g. CTM, Warehouse trade, IP adjustments and/or Sub-Bottler Revenue) at the zone level

Communication Focus : 

  • Communication and stewardship of financial performance to the Zone leadership team including the Zone Senior Vice President.

Director, RGM Execution Canada

Position Summary:

The Director RGM Execution leads a team of Planning Performance Managers (PPMs) and Financial Service Managers (FSMs) partnering and supporting the VP of Sales for their respective customer team.  This is a key position that leads the end-to-end cycle of System Revenue/Volume Planning, pricing architecture, forecasting, trade spend, performance management and customer gap solving recommendations. The role is accountable for fully leading the analysis of the Volume/Revenue/GP actuals, forecast and plan in support of delivering the Customer based P&L and responsible for the book of record financial information. 

Key Responsibilities:

Annual Business Plan and Execution:  Serve as the lead and financial expert reporting to Commercial decision support leader on a dedicated National Retail Sales team partnering with VP of Sales for their territory. Leads the development of the Annual System Business Planning process for the respective customer team, inclusive of the overall price pack plan, retail strategy, pricing architecture, promotional activity, depth, frequency and guardrails. Execution of strategic business plan, JBP and delivery of business and financial results.  Leads the review meetings with the VP, customer teams and franchise bottlers before final locked system plans. 

Forecasting and Business Analytics:  Leadership of Volume and revenue forecast while ensuring a high level of forecast accuracy is delivered.  Analysis of business results and recommending forward actions to close gaps to plan or accelerate the business results. Complete understanding and financial leadership of plan delivery; all routes to market.  Analysis of business performance for gaps versus plan and lead the development of contingencies/solves for category and franchise leadership teams; understand external and competitive category performance to inform decisions. Leadership of Financial Management with the customer team, which requires strong customer focus and influence. 

Trade Spend Management:  Oversee management of significant Trade Budget; comply with all governance requirements and provide stewardship to the North American bottling system. Accountable for Trade Spend gap solving, and ensuring appropriate depth/frequency and marketplace coherency.  Brand funding and GTM stewardship to ensure efficient utilization of funds. 

Performance Management Routines:  Leadership and implementation of financial reporting routines and performance metrics (UFP, UPVR, Tableau, Microstrategy).  Responsible for the book of record financial information and the monthly financial routines such as the MOR (Monthly NRS P&L, forecast reviews and gap solving).  Leads the overall strategic thinking for the customer team; requires strong problem solving skills and the ability to interpret results to provide insightful recommendations. Participates in routine meetings for respective customer teams aligning on customer retail strategy, trade spend and promotional activity.   

Performance Enablement:  Responsible for leading a team – recruit, develop and sustain a diverse and high-performing team. Coach, guide, and mentor team in managing and building their quantitative and analytical skills. Establishing key relationships that can be leveraged to strengthen team capabilities and to provide career advancement opportunities in the organization. 

Qualifications:

Education

  • University/Bachelor’s degree required/minimum 
  • MBA preferred 

Related Work Experience  

  • 8-10+ years’ experience, preferably in the consumer goods/beverages industry 
  • 5+ years as a proven effective team and/or project leader 
  • Managerial experience and leading a team preferred 
  • Business experience across multiple product lines and/or channels – e.g. large store 
  • Experienced in Annual Business Planning and strategic thinking including applying forecasting techniques and skills to develop and evaluate business goals and strategies, analyzing information to derive insights and implications to initiate planning/re-planning, and controlling actual results vs. budget. 
  • Planning/Forecasting experience; strategic thinking (forward-looking vision and anticipating of future needs)
