You will need to be physically fit and fine as the job can involve climbing ladders, standing, kneeling, laying or sitting while moving through the crop or undertaking a range of duties in a harvesting team. The work can be repetitious and tiring. Most of the harvesting jobs have to be done outdoors with little or no protection from the weather. Many jobs are in that locations where extremely high temperatures are common. Starting and finishing times will vary depending on the types of harvesting work. Be ready to start work early in the morning, and for some crops, late into the day. Evening and night shift work can sometimes be required, especially if there is packing of produced fruits and vegetable crops. There is often work associated with the crop harvest in packing sheds, canneries and other processing machinery plants or factories.
